The Flasher

Discussion the other evening, afternoon, revolved around how to prioritize projects, goal, ambitions, what's important, what's not.
"Phone rings, you answer it, right?"
That gives the phone a priority rating of "emergency," at least to some folks.
Not so much to me.
As an aside, I picked up a message from the old voice mail, "Uh, yeah, this is (mumble) and I want a chart

Had a coupon, expired soon. Had to go. It's a steak place. Vegetarians should be suitably horrified. I'm guessing that Texas de Brazil is a chain, and there's another Argentinian steak place not a hundred meters away, along the Riverwalk. Same deal, different location.

Started as a simple snapshot of one of the oldest missions in Texas. Mission Concepcion can trace its heritage to the Texas/Louisiana - Spanish/French colonial frontier.
The mission was moved to the current location in 1730. Been an active parish, ever since. For 200 years -- and even longer. The building dates from 1731, and was, at one time, the home to what is now St. Mary's University.

Truck was tagged BP Solar and the sun logo, because, after all, they're not just into oil.
The local solar array is heavily subsidized by government funding.

Flying Shoes
Not fun anymore
I drove my mother home, belated mother's day duty.
Short flight back, recalling the years when it was fun. Not so much, not anymore.
I got patted down. Not really fun.
Apparently, took umbrage at my purple bandana as head gear.
Who knew, I'm a sketchy guy.
As the song goes, "Watch him folks, he's a fairly dangerous guy, he may look dumb, but that's just a disguise..."
Fixed moms computer problems, for the time

I currently have 20-30 texts on my iPad. Of that? I'm actively reading one (1) book. Marketing book, at that.
I tend to think of an iPad as a communication and disposable media device. Websites, especially blogs? Perfect for an iPad. Don't have a Kindle, probably not going to get one, but from what I've seen, those are dedicated reading devices. ebook

Meetings
I was e-mailing and posting on stupid FaceBook about a meeting with a client. Doing it from my phone, no less.
I suggested one place then changed because, even though I'm pedestrian, not everyone else is. I'm used to walking therefore, parking isn't even an issue.
I thought I posted my new suggestion because of ease of ingress and egress, but the phone corrected it to "ease of undress and egress."

Urban Decay
City's center, the decay and renewal, growth and rebirth. So far, on that corner, nothing. Tore it down, and put nothing up. There was a brief moment when the spotlight was on the area, too little, too late.

Luggage Fetish
Luggage Fetish
Suitcases are an integral part of what defines a traveller. As previously noted, I do have luggage fetish, of sorts, but I'm also a minimalist. Hard to combine those two.
One piece that's been with me for years is a "carry-on" size Zero Halliburton. I have, in my previous life, lived out of that very suitcase for months at a time. Less care, then.
Last time it came spitting out, onto the luggage belt, part of the stickers were missing. Old sticker from a Texas garage

Snoopy's Pier
Snoopy's Pier
Properly, Snoopy's is in Corpus Christi, however, emotionally, and quite literally, it's near the terminus of Padre Island. On the inshore waterway, the restaurant is a staple for island fare.
Been going there many years. Always loved it. Personal preference? Fried oyster meal. Platter. Basket. Or, properly, a plastic plate. The trick is to remember, this place does one thing well: fresh seafood, fried. They've added grilled, but for two decades, it was just fried.

With the overwhelming news coverage of the evilest man on the planet, his apparent death, the news flashed a local company's logo, and asked if the price of gas was going up.
That one 'energy' company? Used to be an oil company? All their raw material, billions of barrels of oil? None of it is from the Middle East.

Woodworkers

Recently, I really had to get a new filing cabinet. File drawers. I knew what I was looking for, and I found it at a "used office furniture" warehouse/store. Down on the south side. Really liked the guy as he understood what I was looking for, and he had something that fit my exact description, in his warehouse.
Solid wood, not particle board or laminate, or worse, plastic. Made me pause and think about a set of friends of mine. One of them, well, they're both older than me, but
